Description:
Usage : It is a potent, selective, 5-HT1D receptor agonist with useful antimigraine effect.

Onset Of Action : Maximum effect : 2-4 hours.

Duration Of Action : Oral :30 minutes.

Adverse Effects : With Subcutaneous Injection: The commonest is injection-site reaction. Tingling, warm or hot sensation, dizziness, fatigue & malaise. With Oral : Nausea, vomiting, taste disturbances, fatigue, malaise, dizziness, drowsiness, chest tightness and pressure. It may cause coronary vasospasm in patients with history of coronary artery disease. There have been reports of serious and / or life threatening arrhythmias.

Pregnancy : Caution, Safety not established.

Brest Feeding : Caution, Safety not established.

Elderly : Caution, May be given in reduced dose.

Interactions : Ergotamine containing preparations: Concomitant use should be avoided because of vasospastic reactions. MAOIs: Concomitant use within 2 weeks of discontinuation of MAOIs is contraindicated. Lithium: Concomitant use must be avoided.

Indications : Acute treatment of migrane attacks with or without aura.

Dosage : Adults Initiate with 50-100mg; if response is poor add 100mg every 2 hours. Maximum dose: 300mg in a day.
